PESHAWAR: The Tribal Peace Jirga organized by Jamaat-e-Islami here Thursday called for extension in ceasefire and appealed to the military, the government and the Taliban to remove hurdles blocking peace process. <br />The Jirga supported the ongoing negotiation process with Taliban for durable peace. It appreciated the efforts of both the government and Taliban’s negotiating committees. <br />According to the statement issued here, the Tribal Peace Jirga fully endorsed the resolutions approved by the Parliament. <br />The Tribal Amn Jirga demanded political, democratic, economic and educational reforms in Fata to bring the tribal people as par with the people of rest of the country. <br />Addressing the Jirga, Jamaat e Islami (JI) Ameer Siraj ul Haq said that the today’s Jirga proved that the people of tribal areas are not terrorists. <br />On the occasion, Jamiat Ulema e Islam-Sami (JUI-S) Chief Maulana Samiul Haq said that the tribes are playing leading role in the country’s defence. <br />The parliament had agreed to end war and to initiate dialogue process, he added.
