Venezuela’s government has been accused of violating the rights of opposition protesters through rough beatings and illegal detentions. <br /><br />At least 41 people have died including both government and opposition supporters since protests began in February.<br /><br />Human Rights Watch called their report “ Punished for Protesting”.<br /><br />The demonstrations started in protest over crime, inflation and product shortages but quickly developed into a call for the government of socialist President Nicolas Maduro to quit.
