Reaction in Egypt to the first television interview of former Defence Minister and front-runner in the upcoming presidential elections Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi appears to have been positive.<br /><br />Speaking on satellite news channels on Monday night, he took a hard line on a reconciliation with the Muslim Brotherhood and said he would not allow himself be influenced by any forces during his presidency. <br /><br />Cairo resident Samir Gouda Mohamed said he was pleased that “al-Sisi focused on stability, security and the economy. They are important issues for all Egyptians because they permit everyone to live a dignified life.”<br /><br />The Muslim Brotherhood has said it is committed to peaceful activism. It has accused al-Sisi of staging a coup and masterminding the removal of the freely elected Mohamed Mursi.
