ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)<br/> <br />STORY: Prince William celebrated the restoration of Second World War era submarine HMS Alliance on Monday (May 12).<br/> <br />The Duke of Cambridge flew by helicopter to Gosport in Hampshire for the event at the Royal Navy Submarine Museum.<br/> <br />HMS Alliance is the only surviving British submarine from the Second World War era.<br/> <br />The 31-year-old royal attended the rededication ceremony of the newly restored submarine, where he met veteran submariners and was given a tour of the vessel.<br/> <br />As he left the submarine he was offered a tot of rum - a ritual for newly qualified submariners.<br/> <br />William is Commodore-in-Chief Submarines and Royal Patron of the HMS Alliance Conservation Appeal.
