Relatives of miners trapped deep underground wait anxiously for any news about their loved ones. <br /><br />In front of the Soma State Hospital, their hope of being reunited with their husbands, fathers, sons is fading. <br /><br />Many will remember the Zonguldak mine explosion in the north of Turkey nearly 20 years ago in which nearly three-hundred miners lost their lives. <br /><br />The scale of this tragedy threatens to overshadow earlier ones and tear apart families in this small mining community.<br /><br />Our euronews correspondent, Bora Bayraktar, reported from outside the hospital in Soma:<br /><br />“The hopeful waiting lasted until early morning. Then as the bad news came in, a deep grief filled the air. Now relatives are still waiting for any information about their loved ones,” he said.
