The first funerals of workers killed in Turkey’s worst mining disaster have taken place. Large numbers of mourners attended services in the west of the country.<br /><br /> The tragedy has devastated entire families in this small mining community. <br /><br /> The number of confirmed dead has now climbed to 282 at the Soma mine.<br /><br /> Freezer trucks and a cold storage warehouse are serving as makeshift morgues, with hospital facilities overwhelmed.<br /><br /> In Soma, exhausted rescue workers search for the dead in smouldering tunnels filled with toxic gases.<br /><br /> Relatives wait for any news on their loved ones.<br /><br /> But hopes have now faded for around 120 workers still believed trapped deep underground.<br /><br /> As the desperate search and agonising wait continue, <br />teams of psychiatrists have been called in to counsel victims families, plunged into the deepest distress.
