Serbia hit by worst floods in 120 years

ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)<br/> <br />The heaviest rains and floods in 120 years hit Serbia, killing four people, cutting off power and leaving several towns and villages isolated.<br/> <br />The Serbian government declared a state of emergency on Thursday (May 15) and asked the European Commission, Russia and Slovenia for help.<br/> <br />The four casualties, one of them a firefighter on a rescue mission, all drowned in floodwaters.<br/> <br />More than 1,000 people have been evacuated from their homes.<br/> <br />Soldiers and special forces police officers were sent to towns in central Serbia which has been the hardest hit area.<br/> <br />In some cases Army helicopters were used to evacuate families from surrounding villages.<br/> <br />Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said on Thursday that an emergency would be declared for the whole country.<br/> <br />Schools across the country were also closed.
