Residents of the devastated Turkish mining town of Soma, where 301 people died in the country’s worst ever industrial disaster, are desperate for answers.<br /><br />An explosion on Tuesday, May 13 sent deadly carbon monoxide through the coal mine. <br /><br />The funerals for the victims have already begun, but the cause of the mine tragedy is not yet known.<br /><br />The Turkish government has said a “technical, administrative and legal” investigation will be launched.<br /><br />Rescued miner Guler told reporters that his father was working at the bottom of the mine when the explosion happened.<br /><br />“He [father]worked here for five years, then retired. But after three months he came back to the mine,” Guler said.<br /><br />“I would have preferred an office job, but I couldn’t study because I wanted to support my family and my father,” he added.
