The world is watching as Ukrainians head to the polls on Sunday to vote in the presidential elections, and the atmosphere in the East remains tense.<br /><br />The Ukrainian authorities announced that the electronic voting system has been hacked and won’t be restored before the vote and no election will be held in the break-away region of Crimea, whilst European election monitors have pulled out of Donetsk for their own safety.<br /><br />The US has threatened further sanctions on Russia if it disrupts the elections, while President Putin has vowed to respect the outcome.<br /><br />Exit polls are expected at 5pm GMT, with the hope that the results will put an end to uncertainty in the country.
