The number of people without a job in France rose by nearly 15,000 in April.<br /><br />It hit a new record – 3,364,100 in mainland France, a 3.5 percent jump from last April. <br /><br />The most recent figures, which are from the end of last year, show the jobless total at 10.2 percent of the workforce. <br /><br />President Francois Hollande’s campaign to bring unemployment down is further undermined. His ratings have crumbled to record lows in the face of unfulfilled promises on jobs and a stagnant economy. <br /><br />Hollande is pinning his hopes on a plan to reduce company payroll taxes by 30 billion euros in exchange for commitments from firms to hire and invest in France.
