Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Spirits & Spells for the Game Boy Advance developed by Magic Pockets and published by DreamCatcher Interactive. <br /> <br />Released in Europe as Castleween, the name was thankfully changed for its North American release. Spirits & Spells is a 2D platformer with a Halloween theme. Alicia and Greg are out trick-or-treating with their friends, and they decide to look for a legendary house in the forest where candy magically spawns. What they find there is the Bogeyman, who steals their friends’ souls and ruins their Halloween. What a jerk. From there, it’s platforming city as Alicia and Greg try to save their friends—and maybe get some candy along the way. Spirits & Spells has gorgeous pre-rendered graphics similar to Donkey Kong Country, arguably its strongest point. The game is also available as a 3D platformer on the GameCube and PlayStation 2.
