Keeping your team engaged and focused can sometimes be a real challenge, read this for some simple solutions to greater productivity and greater profit.<br /><br />The focus of this article is something called the viewable scoreboard. It's a really simple tool that can have a profound impact on your team. <br /><br />I've talked before about productivity and profitability suffering if everybody isn't headed in the same direction or at least a similar direction, and I make a point of saying a similar direction because I think it's perhaps a bit unrealistic to think that you can have everybody headed in the same direction at the same time.<br /><br />In order to have everyone headed in the same direction, you need to know exactly what that direction is and know it so well that you can communicate it accurately. And you've got to allow for a little bit of wiggle room — if you'd like to call it that — in the communication because more often than not, there's a little bit of error in how we explain things or how people interpret what we're trying to communicate. But having people headed in a similar direction can be very powerful.<br /><br />Everyone is a goal setter. I know you're probably thinking of a few people who don't come across as goal setters to you, but the bottom line is everybody is a goal setter. Everybody needs an objective to be focused on and to move towards. Now of course, some objectives aren't as positive and as helpful as others. In the case of having a team within a business, it's very powerful if the team understands, at least to a point, what the team objective is. <br /><br />The challenge with keeping team members engaged and focused on the team goal is when there isn't anything that helps to communicate that progress.
