Colonel Muhammad Zahir and Colonel Arshad Hussain, who embraced martyrdom yesterday in a suicide attack near Tarnol, Rawalpindi, were laid to rest in their ancestral towns with full military honour, Dunya News reported on Thursday. <br />Colonel Zahir Shah’s funeral prayer was offered amid tight security in his native village near Peshawar while Colonel Arshad’s funeral prayer was offered in his ancestral town in Jaranwala. <br />It may be mentioned that the two officers and three civilians embraced martyrdom when a suicide bomber hit security forces vehicle near a railway crossing on Fateh Jang Road early Wednesday morning. <br />Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the attack. <br />According to AFP, more than 4,000 Pakistani police, paramilitaries or troops have lost their lives in terrorist attacks since 2002, but the death of high-ranking officers is rare.
