Scenes of devastation outside a hotel in western Kabul.<br/> <br />Two bombs exploded here where Afghan presidential frontrunner Abdullah Abdullah was holding a rally.<br/> <br />His convoy was targeted and his car was struck in the blasts.<br/> <br />Abdullah Abdullah narrowly escaped the attack but his bodyguards were among the injured.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (Dari) GENERAL ZAHIR ZAHIR, POLICE CHIEF OF KABUL; SAYING:<br/> <br />"The convoy with Dr. (Abdullah) Abdullah and his deputy Khan Mohammad was attacked by a suicide bomber and fortunately they were not harmed. So far we have at least sixteen people wounded and two martyred."<br/> <br />Cars were damaged and windows in neighbouring shops and buildings were smashed.<br/> <br />The run-off round of the presidential election takes place next week.<br/> <br />No group has said it carried out the attack but the Taliban have repeatedly threatened to target the campaign.
