One worker has been killed and at least two others have been injured after a beam fell at a monorail construction site in Sao Paulo.<br /><br />The accident happened near the city’s Congonhas airport. <br /><br />The project meant to link with three metro lines had been due to be in operation before the start of the opening World Cup match in the city on Thursday.<br /><br />The monorail is one of several infrastructural plans either scrapped or delayed ahead of the event.<br /><br />This latest death pushes the total number of workers killed during the construction phase in the 12 World Cup host cities to nine.
