I have hope for better days, <br /> I have love for one woman, <br />I have honour for my friends, <br /> I have thoughts on life, <br />I have pride in my self, <br /> I have pity for all. <br /> <br />Lost: All hope of a new age. <br />Lost: All love from one woman. <br />Lost: All honour from my friends. <br />Lost: All thoughts of life. <br />Lost: All pride in my eyes. <br /> I have pity for everyone. <br /> <br />Hope needs to see a better time, <br />I need to love just one woman, <br />honour hides the false friend, <br />I need thoughts to live, <br />pride is self-inflicted sin, <br />I have pity for mankind. <br /> <br />Take away tomorrow <br /> and you steal our futures hope, <br />take away my soul <br /> and you rob me of love, <br />take away my spirit <br /> and I lose all honour, <br />take away Astral light <br /> and I become thoughtless, <br />take away my face <br /> and I lose all pride, <br />take away my body <br /> and I have pity. <br /> <br />Hope is free to all people <br /> that need it, <br />love is free to all people <br /> that make it, <br />honour is free to all people <br /> that find it a need, <br />thoughts are free to all people <br /> that use them, <br />pride is free to all people <br /> that seek to outdo others, <br />I have pity. <br /> <br />Who can say they have hope, <br />who can say they need hope, <br />who can say they have true love, <br />who can say they need no love, <br />who can say they have honour, <br />who can say they honour none, <br />who can say they have good thoughts, <br />who can say they need no thoughts, <br />who can say they have self pride, <br />who can say they need no pride, <br />I have pity, <br />who else has pity?<br /><br />Richard Allen Beevor<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/i-have-pity/
