Many roses were placed in my hands; flowers of
The most beautiful kind. The burning bouquet stared
At me - piercing into my soul, to tell the secrets of
Lasting love gone by. Of gentlemen and ladies,
Of days of great knights; tales of midnight walks on
Starlit evenings with lovers pressing on – holding
Hands, journeying to love’s nowhere, through gardens of
Pansies and Daffodils, Tulips and Dandelions,
And Roses; where Bluebirds lay in nest and lovebirds
Sing. With kisses being thrown along the way, each flower
Was a potential bouquet that fills the mistress’ hair
With their bloom, as single men walked into being
Grooms. Princesses kissed frogs, who felt like princes;
Every tree became a mistletoe. Lover closed
Eyes, and kissing, they formed a rainbow. Futures were
Made by shooting stars, as chirping birds and crickets
Play love’s song. The sunrise awakened lovers
Asleep on the morning dew, who slept in each others
arms, under the open heaven, until the blessed morn.

Copyright © 2009 Leslie Alexis

Leslie Alexis

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/fairytale-love-2/
