I've drifted amidst, <br />Broken promises once wished. <br />From parents and friends. <br />Even past lovers gone... <br />With exaggerated dreams, <br />That linger on! <br /> <br />And I often think, <br />I am the one to blame. <br />For displeasures showing a selfishness... <br />I displayed without gain. <br /> <br />Sitting alone, <br />At home <br />And reminiscing prepared Christmas lists. <br />Today I miss them dearly. <br />Realizing now... <br />Those promises weren't broken at all. <br />They did come my way. <br /> <br />Those wishes given, <br />As God's gifts. <br />Some I enjoyed! <br />While others I simply craved. <br />Leaving me with that everlasting flavor tasted... <br />I wished had never gone away! <br /> <br />Within my mind I can still hear them say... <br />We are always with you near! <br />Cheer up... <br />'Happy Holidays'<br /><br />Lawrence S.
