Working harder <br />For cuts in the check, <br />Some, already the loser <br />With more bills <br />And no checks. <br />Again, the ordinary Joes <br />Take the fall <br />For a corrupt <br />And thieving herd; <br />Most, just try to survive, <br />Too busy to say a word. <br />In emails and blogs <br />Facebook and Yahoo <br />There is some escape; <br />Even a pal or two. <br />“Community” has changed <br />With so little time; <br />Most everybody's friends <br />Are now those online. <br />Nothing good is in the news <br />Even the weather sucks too <br />With either too much rain <br />Or no rain at all. <br />The States are going broke, <br />The whole economy <br />Is circling the drain; <br />Can’t imagine things <br />Ever being the same. <br />It's an all out struggle; <br />An awesome strain... <br />Living the American dream <br />These days.<br /><br />Carolyn Brunelle<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/american-dream-11/
