Today I drove along those roads <br />Well trod, well paved and well maligned <br />Where danger, heartache, chaos rained <br />Like drops of blood from skies of gray <br /> <br />Those days of yore are part of me <br />Those places where we used to live <br />Yet something's different as I drive <br />The avenues of what has passed <br /> <br />Today a loved one moved and left <br />The old place that so long was filled <br />With things placed with a caring hand <br />Now scattered, lost or thrown away <br /> <br />It's time for me to wash those veils <br />With tears and leave nostalgia's wraps <br />That keep me from the truth so plain <br />Each moment lived is history <br /> <br />Each little second of this day <br />These roads, not as they were, but now <br />Are warp and woof of what is me <br />And I must daily stitch and sew <br /> <br />It's time to wake up to the gifts <br />Each breath and heartbeat bring my way <br />Accepting past things as things past <br />Embracing what is here and now.<br /><br />Liilia Talts Morrison<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/here-and-now-28/
