It's been a devoted life well spent <br />just ask a Husband, a Son <br />a Granddaughter or Parents; <br />years that all my time was theirs. <br /> <br />Those days of youth made me stronger; <br />I worked hard, prayed even longer <br />gave it my all, did the best I knew, <br />isn't that what most women do? <br /> <br />Now a Son grown has moved away, <br />a Granddaughter's in college these days <br />even Parents are in a better place; <br />and it's my turn to have a bit of space. <br /> <br />Chores and housework are left to wait <br />while I read and write and paint and create; <br />while I explore the beauty in other worlds <br />before my own boat sails and it's too late.<br /><br />Carolyn Brunelle<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/before-the-boat-sails/
