I could write a thousand lines, <br />And yet still they won't suffice; <br />For wishing what cannot be mine: <br />That is a piece of Paradise! <br /> <br />I could bind a billion flowers, <br />And hope their scent'd steer your way; <br />While I hold on to the unfaithful hours: <br />That draw me closer to my decay. <br /> <br />I fall blind at your feet: <br />All weary from my lifetime fight; <br />And shed one tear but just discreet: <br />Lest I walk forth in the dead of night. <br /> <br />They say the kindled hearts <br />Are lit by their own fire, <br />And when that fire parts <br />The hearts do die by their desire! <br /> <br />Heartless, I modified mine own: <br />For I could not just take anymore; <br />Replaced it by a stone cold stone, <br />All ready to face all what's in store. <br /> <br />I've heard them pray, praise and believe: <br />In somewhere else besides this abyss; <br />A higher ground that souls relieves: <br />From all their pain and pensiveness. <br /> <br />I've sought this land far in the West: <br />And found but fellows who too blindly roam; <br />For some who'd been for long oppressed, <br />Were but obsessed to feel a new home! <br /> <br />It seemed that we all shared a dream: <br />Of a place that hardly seemed to be; <br />And deemed our own hopes but agleam, <br />And chased upstream uncertainty! <br /> <br />When I was just about to lose <br />All faith, a thought of you has startled me, <br />And wiped away all past adieus, <br />And saved my soul by serenity. <br /> <br />I sought a haven yet elsewhere, <br />Thought not to look at where I stand, <br />Fought far for heaven away despair, <br />And caught in strangers' lands just sand! <br /> <br />The winds of change on me but blew, <br />And cleared away the fog and mist: <br />Therefore I've kenned Paradise with you, <br />Or Paradise of you yet might consist!<br /><br />Danny The Dreamer Boyd<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/paradise-somewhere/
