A parasite attached to its mother’s womb <br />Our life here begins like any other brood <br />Drawing its food from its mother’s blood <br />To the day it hatches out for its roam to its tomb <br /> <br />Then it gets glued to its mother’s breast <br />Day in and day out sucking without rest <br />To its mother, but itself sleeping and waking <br />And when hungry, shrieking. <br /> <br />The toddler, be it girl or boy <br />Is always attached to its tiny toy <br />And playthings and anything sweet <br />You snatch it from him and face its tantrum heat <br /> <br />The adult adores his goddess of love <br />For her carnal bliss on him to bestow <br />To get tied to his chosen mate <br />For life with no limit or date. <br /> <br />Unrestrained we go on a possession spree <br />An indulgence branching out like a growing tree <br />In one’s wife, children, home and wealth <br />A non- stop saga that ends with death. <br /> <br />Amidst this earthly race to cloy <br />With food, play, work and joy, <br />Riches and all, we forget the one <br />Who showers these bounties, the Almighty One<br /><br />Venkateswaran Krishnan Sreenivasan<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/attachment-13/
