Up on Calvary Hill
Stood three wooden crosses
The world stood still
And mourned at the losses

Three wooden crosses
For three condemned men
Each one was hung there
For three different sins

Each had nails
In their feet and hands
But only the middle one
Died there for the love of man

A shepherd was He
But Gods chosen one
He denied not a charge
Nor, did He try to run

When asked who was Jesus
He said 'I am He! '
That's when they lead Him
To the cross on Calvary

As He said 'Father forgive them
They know not what they do! '
Not a tear did He cry, then said
'I'll bring the lambs on to You! '

Out in the crowd
The tears fell like rain
As He begged for their mercy
Yet, not showing any pain

There were non believers
That threw stones and mocked
But, had a different view
When they rolled away that rock

For there was no body
Where it was buried the night before
Not a sign of Him anywhere
Not even piece of rag He wore

Yet, from behind them
A voice called out 'Here I am'
As they turned and looked He said
'I am your shepherd, you are My lambs

'So listen to me well
And I will lead you Home
As long as you believe in Me,
I will never steer you wrong! '

I have My own lambs
And I know who you are
If you ever need Me
Just pray, I won't be far

written 5/31/2014 by Norman Hale Jr.

norman hale

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/up-on-calvary-hill/
