Everyone for themselves and God for us all <br />One of the more cynical sayings that I can recall <br />Often used by the self centred in their promotion of greed <br />Their idea if you do help out others in life you won't succeed <br />I too can be selfish as I've come to realize <br />And the selfishness of others I should not criticize <br />But we dislike in others what in our own selves we see <br />These are words that does surely apply to me <br />But everyone for themselves to all does not apply <br />Not to those who to live an honourable existence their very best do try <br />People who to help out others go out of their way <br />And try to perform at least one good deed every day <br />Everyone for themselves and God for us all <br />The thinking of one who in ways is quite small.<br /><br />Francis Duggan<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/everyone-for-themselves-and-god-for-us-all/
