It's the cliche phrase
A self fulfilling prophecy
Passed from one generation to another
Time goes faster, as you grow older

10 years ago, I was in elementary school
Eons ago, learning about multiplication
One year ago, I was graduating high school
Seconds ago, learning about the world

Since then, we settle down
Build a career, start a family
Adventure calls, but we ignore it
In the name of whatever we like

Which road I take I don't know
Two years from now, I may be in the deserts of Afghanistan
4 years from now, I may be going to college
10 years from now, I may be a chef

Is life shortened by perspectives handed down to us
Or is it lengthened by the experiences we share
Simply put, Does time fly by
Or do we fly time?

Kaz Kawasaki

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/flying-time/
