“Father, forgive them! ” Christ cried out from the cross <br />They mocked His name and pierced His side, and yet He loved them, lost <br />He died for those who hated Him, beginning to the end <br />Because they need a savior, and He wants to be their friend. <br /> <br />Today they still are mocking what they cannot understand <br />And still their Savior beckons them to hearken to His plan <br />They laugh at me and call me names for living for the Son <br />But I just want to help them see the battle has been won. <br /> <br />Although they don’t believe me, they will someday stand before <br />The God they fought against so hard, the God they called folklore <br />They’ll tremble at the sight of Him – the God they never knew <br />They’ll beg and plead for mercy, but it’s far too late, too soon <br /> <br />They already had their chance, and now the time is nigh <br />For sinners to be judged at last and sentenced then to die <br />Eternal fire raining down on those who chose to hate <br />Meanwhile up in heaven now they close the sacred gate. <br /> <br />God’s mercy is astounding, but it only lasts so long <br />Before at last the clock strikes twelve and sounds the final gong <br />So I will not be silent though you kick me with your hate <br />I’ll tell you Jesus loves you ‘til at last you choose your fate. <br /> <br />I pray that you will choose Him, all the answer to your fears <br />I pray that you will cry to him beyond your broken tears <br />You do not have one moment, for the time is almost here <br />I beg you, please choose Jesus – He will save and keep you near.<br /><br />Katelin Taylor<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/father-forgive-them-3/
