Hurricanes and showers of hail in Spring and Summer the weather is strange <br />The greatest threat to human existence is climate change <br />So much damage done when the gales have blown tame <br />For the anger of Nature we have ourselves to blame. <br /> <br />For damage to our Natural Environment the price is huge to pay <br />The mature trees that were cut down did not grow in a day <br />The bulldozing of groves and woodlands in progress name <br />Is not to our glory only to our shame. <br /> <br />By our Mother Earth no doubt we have done wrong <br />To the group known as Environmental Vandals most of us belong <br />We pollute sea and land, air and every waterway <br />We are our own worst enemies that does seem sad to say. <br /> <br />For financial gain the destruction of our Natural Environment many of us seem to enjoy <br />But 'tis not our Earth Mother that we will destroy <br />If 'tis our own extinction we are trying to create <br />In human progress what is to celebrate?<br /><br />Francis Duggan<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/we-have-ourselves-to-blame/
