I remember all those years,

the years we spent laying the same bed,

All the years where we laughed and played

Now your gone, and sadly dead.

You were my best friend.

I remember all the years I had your arms to climbed into

And my head always, eventually,

finding that one perfect spot of your chest.

I remember the one apple tree

that use to be in your backyard

And my head lightly laying in your lap.

And your long fingers running through my hair.

I remember your teal eyes,

As they stared at me, trying to figure out if I was lying.

Your soft kiss on my forehead

every time I was sick.

I remember the awful look on your face

Every time your mom made you 'sick'

And the strange taste of your food

the 3 times I tried to eat it.

I remember the last words you ever said to me,

Only ten minutes before my whole life fell apart.

'Don't you dare hurt yourself if anything happens' you said

'I love you more than anything, and I don't want you to get hurt.'

And now your gone,

And the scars keep growing up my arms.

And the one time I tried to hang myself

My father beat me for.

Every other night when I lay in bed,

My head constantly looks for your warmth,

And the sturdiness of your chest.

Sadly I know I'll never find.

In memory of Jacob Penton

My best friend and big brother.

February 7,1996- January 20th,2013

hannah babcock

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/jaocb/
