Why did the good lord create the night <br />When the days are warm and bright? <br />And the Sun bestows energy and might <br />To all life with his blessed light <br />The plants make food with chlorophyll <br />The cows graze to their fill <br />The butterflies hop for floral honey <br />And men sweat for money <br />Come sunset and all retreat to their nest <br />For their well earned rest <br />To greet the new dawn with renewed zest <br />Whilst I lie in bed depressed <br />Why did the good lord create the night <br />When the days are warm and bright? <br />I walk a mile everyday <br />Meditate for an hour a day <br />Do all that the sleep experts say <br />Yet have a sleep debt to pay <br />Why did the good lord create the night <br />When the days are warm and bright? <br />Don’t get sleep?
