He does not smoke pot or cigarettes or alcohol he doesn't drink <br />And he's the perfect role model or so some seem to think <br />He attends church on sundays with his wife and teenage daughter and son <br />And though not many ideal fathers he is seen as one. <br /> <br />He drives around in a brand new merc a gleaming silver gray <br />And he is a big business man at least that's what he say <br />And when he's asked what sort of business his answer stock and shares <br />And he is seen as wealthy even amongst millionaires. <br /> <br />He now dabbles in real estate and his nest egg grow and grow <br />And he keeps his big secret and none of the locals know <br />That he was a big dealer in the narcotics trade <br />Till he moved on to a cleaner life when he had his millions made. <br /> <br />One of his tragic victims is poor Miranda Roe <br />The violets bloom on her daughter's grave she died ten years ago <br />Susan was only nineteen and from life she stood to gain <br />And with her poor shattered mother the pangs of loss remain. <br /> <br />Susan a brilliant artist was doing her art degree <br />And her still grieving mother can only think of what might be <br />Had her daughter not got hooked on drugs she might have known wealth and fame <br />But due to the so called 'Role Model' she died a death of shame. <br /> <br />'Twould hardly bother one like him if Susan died at nineteen <br />Since he only worries about his own ego and his image of 'Mr Clean' <br />How many other young people because of him have died <br />And how many other parents their dreams by him destroyed? <br /> <br />He goes to church on Sundays with his wife and family <br />And he has reached the very top of the high social tree <br />And he's seen as a role model by those who do not know <br />Of how he made his millions in the not so long ago.<br /><br />Francis Duggan<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-so-called-role-model/
