Bonfire Night <br />By <br />Susan Wood <br /> <br /> <br />I am pleased to remember the 5th of November <br />When gun powder treason and plot, <br />There is good reason <br />To remember this season, <br />And why, it should not be forgotten. <br /> <br />Guy Fawkes, had plan <br />A misguided man, <br />To rid us of parliaments power. <br />But instead, someone lost his head, <br />And parliament was saved, in the final hour. <br /> <br />Through freedom of choice <br />We all make a noise, <br />To put our point across. <br />We vote for a man to do what he can, <br />But always at a cost. <br /> <br />Politicians, you see don't always agree, <br />On what we think is best for us. <br />But all the same, they take the blame. <br />When there is trouble and fuss. <br /> <br />If they tow the line, <br />Then everything's fine. <br />And all goes swimmingly well. <br />If they bottle out, <br />Then everyone shouts <br />And gives some poor bloke hell. <br /> <br />So, I hope you agree. <br />It's better to be. <br />Able to vote with a choice <br />And poor Guy Fawkes no matter how mislead <br />It's he who is making no noise <br /> <br /> <br /> © <br /> 2009 <br /> <br /><br />Susan Wood<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/bonfire-night-9/
