Rhymers will always be rhymers and for as long as they live as rhymers they remain <br />Penning blank verse does not seem to interest them one might say they have rhyme on the brain <br />They may be seen as out of fashion by those with their literary degrees <br />Who are seen as literary experts and for their opinions command high fees <br />The World would be worse off without music as well as worse off without song <br />These two seem to go well together and together they seem to belong <br />Blank verse does not go well with music on saying this I'm not saying anything new <br />And though rhymers by many are seen as out of fashion they still have their fans and quite a few <br />Do much prefer rhyme verse to blank verse the literary critics to them cannot tell <br />That blank verse is the only true poetry and that rhyme is only doggerel <br />Those who claim what is or is not poetry are opinionated one might say <br />Yet the old classic poets can rest easy their equals not living today <br />Rhymers will always be rhymers they are born with the gift of song <br />And song it is married to music together they seem to belong.<br /><br />Francis Duggan<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/rhymers-will-always-be-rhymers/
