When I met you I was so young. <br />Love was something then unknown to me or you, <br />Love as in two that becomes one, <br />For me that was still unknown, <br />Till you came along, <br /> <br />We were silly yet, <br />Always true to each other, <br />Both of us still young, <br />Yet, <br />Growing as we fumbed, <br />In and out of Love, <br />No fronts or hidden agenda’s did we have, <br />Just you and me, <br />And us in youth discovering, <br />What is love? <br /> <br />As we sat in the park, <br />On that full bloom summers day, <br />You picked me a red rose, <br />From the rose garden therein, <br />Holding it in your hand, <br />You whispered in my ear, <br /> <br />My love for you is as deep as this single red rose, <br />One red rose for you, <br />And one for me, <br />To show our love as one of two, <br />You and me, <br />That is one love, <br />We will seal it with a kiss, <br />And on this day it will be, <br />The start of our love, <br />As it blossoms and grows, <br /> <br />Poet to poet we each fell into love, <br />With our words of feelings we spoke to each other, <br />Yet, with the kiss that did seal, <br />And show the chemistry within, <br />That our young poor poet hearts, <br />Had falling in love, <br /> <br />We spoke only the truth and put it in poetic love, <br />Our feelings and love that made us gaze at each other, <br />When we walk and talked, <br />Sharing our thoughts of what is love, <br />We compared it to the one stem of the rose, <br />That we both shared as two in one love, <br /> <br />My love is like a one stem rose, <br />Where the petals does bloom and grow, <br />Then it falls from there and sheds its seed elsewhere, <br />Till again and again love blooms again, <br />Just like the love of youth passed that was, <br />First love from the hearts, <br />Of two youths that fell in love.<br /><br />Ellen Ni Bheachain<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/our-single-red-rose/
