Cultures are so in depth with their own religions <br /> <br />People brought up to believe that selling <br /> <br />Their daughters is OK...mutilation of their bodies is OK <br /> <br />Letting their daughters to be married to older men is OK <br /> <br />The reality of their world is beyond my comprehension <br /> <br />Why is this so...because it is our culture...as so many women have said so....in their own words <br /> <br />This makes me so mad to see that children are married off at such an early age in there lives <br /> <br />When they should be.... <br /> <br />Running Free <br /> <br />Playing with friends their own age <br /> <br />Learning about life and the world through a child's eyes <br /> <br />Laughing...Living happy life's....Just being a child <br /> <br />When I see this and how they live.... today in this day and age <br /> <br />I cry and weep as a mother.... how can this be <br /> <br />Children should be Just that...children <br /> <br />Not a commodity to be bargained with it shouldn't be this way <br /> <br />Its just not right....tears trickle down my face as I see so many <br /> <br />Not given a chance to be who they want to be <br /> <br />At least I was able to do so...move forward and on <br /> <br />They cannot which is why I cry for the children of our times<br /><br />Kaila George<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/a-child-speaks-2/
