A house abandoned long ago, <br />a remnant from the past. <br />A silent grim reminder that <br />our days go by too fast. <br />How sad to see an old house <br />where children once had played. <br />Where laughter echoed through the halls <br />and many meals were made. <br />A time where things were simple; <br />Clothes hung outside to dry. <br />The smell of breakfast cooking <br />would call all to arise. <br />Questions an scenario’s <br />go racing through my mind, <br />faces faded long ago, <br />deep in the stream of time. <br />Time holds to one covenant, <br />that is, to quickly pass us by. <br />She sweeps away our shadows, <br />she has no heart to cry. <br />Waves of melancholy; <br />I have to turn away <br />For in these ruins I see myself <br />for others soon to say, <br />How sad to see an old house where…<br /><br />Bill Cantrell<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/an-old-house-4/
