Can we shake ourselves awake, <br />From an aborted ride into darkness <br />Derailed? <br />Can we take back the hope to love, <br />And detour this scene to find happiness waiting? <br />Will agitated aggressiveness become offended <br />To find clearing eyes on the road... <br />And not on drugged realities sold as we slept! <br /> <br />Can we shake ourselves awake... <br />And turnaround to mend shattered daydreams, <br />Left unnourished and discouraged to fulfill? <br />Dropping them as excessive weight, <br />We believed our journey could not take... <br />But now needs! <br /> <br />If we can shake ourselves awake, <br />And break free of the mistaken purpose to control. <br />Focusing on the road we have taken to make peace. <br />The peace we nearly overslept <br />To let someone we felt we knew take the wheel. <br />Awakening to find they had become misguided! <br />Hopefully this does not delay our arrival. <br /> <br />If we can shake ourselves awake... <br />We just might make it there on time, <br />To celebrate!<br /><br />Lawrence S.
