Giving! <br />Slows a devoted heart, <br />Of one who takes! <br />And takes without rebuttal. <br /> <br />Giving! <br />The shirt off one's back... <br />Can be shredded too many times. <br />When it is not accepted. <br />Yet a return of consequences, <br />Are often gained. <br /> <br />Giving! <br />How many bites on a hand, <br />Can one bleeding receive? <br />Why should one apologize, <br />For being taken for granted? <br />Or kicked in the rear, <br />Because opportunities presented, <br />Do not please those with few choices. <br />Those who voice, <br />With a giving of spoiled demands. <br /> <br />Those who voice, <br />Ultimatums eventually ignored! <br />With a giving once explored, <br />Ceased!<br /><br />Lawrence S.
