The ground trembles and rattles my heart <br />I have heard this sound since the very start <br />The melody strikes at a chord in my soul, <br />Without that song I'll never be whole <br />The water glistens with moonlight so pure <br />My mind is set my knowlage is sure <br />A dorsal fin breaks the blue water glass <br />I stand in silence and watch it pass, <br />The whales gather in immortal choir <br />I hope their song will never tire <br />But soon I know that in years to come <br />There isn't a chance that the whales will have won <br />Humans will banish that wordless tune, <br />As for me, never would be too soon. <br />I cannot imagine their song to be ceased <br />If I had my way they would all be released <br />Now they've been captured they won't come to harm? <br />To the whale's all this is a cause for alarm <br />These whale's are the last in the universe see? <br />The thought is unthinkable if you ask me. <br />The some people will never hear music of whales <br />That is where all of the strength of man fails<br /><br />Steffi Webster<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-whale-s-song/
