I walked along the path, from the hut
Into the large, wild forest
It was a lovely afternoon
As I wandered this way and that
Until I turned around from a patch of berry bushes
To realise to my horror, I was totally lost
Panic set in, as I looked up
To see rain clouds gathering overhead
At any moent I was going to get wet
It's perhaps not surprizing, how when frightened
The mind refuses to think logically
So it is that I raced up every track
Unable to remember how to get back
But then I heard a voice, clear as anything
Say, Go along here. This is the way to the entrance
By now heavy raindrops were beginning to fall
As I looked around for the voice
Yet there was no-one there at all
Still I took its advice and began to run
Along that winding, twisting track
Til at last, I burst out from the trees
It was the entrance and there ahead
Was shelter for me until the rain had passed.

Marilyn Shepperson

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/lost-42/
