Dark outside of the bright inside
The moth waited
On the glass pane
In the door.
Thou shall not covet, Moth

As I opened the door
The moth insight
Incited the moth
To flap to chaotic
Fly for exotic locations

The crack of the door,
The hinged
Was now open
And the moment arrived
For the moth.

At once
The moth focused
And the winged wondered forward
Through the crack
And was successfully inside.

The air smelt
Like paint
On the inside
And I recognized
That the bright inside
Was a truly dangerous place
For a moth to reside

I opened the door again
And blew so hard upon the moth
That with the aid of my breath
The moth tripped and tumbled
From the bright inside
Back to the dark outside,
Through the very crack
He came in from.

I closed the door
And watched
Anxiously
Through the door’s glass pane,
Looking
From the inside
Out.

R.J.
