While wandering lost among the clouds, <br />Not a care for what below, <br />On my ear a chorus came to and fro, <br />Piercing the silent tranquil crowds; <br /> <br />Of Innocence and purity which I tread, <br />Softly, oh so softly. <br />Never longing to return to from whence I fled, <br />Costly, oh so costly. <br /> <br />With the melodic rapture I became obsessed, <br />Searching misty shores high and low, <br />On my ear a chorus came to and fro, <br />Never before feeling so blessed. <br /> <br />To my heart the words did quickly bind, <br />Tender, oh so tender. <br />As they circled round ones head and mind, <br />Slender, oh so slender. <br /> <br />For the familiar song my longing rose, <br />With every note my need did grow, <br />While on my ear a chorus came to and fro, <br />And with alarm my body froze. <br /> <br />On ones eyes the way did soar, <br />Enlightening, oh so enlightening. <br />And on ones knees, put ear to floor, <br />Frightening, oh so frightening. <br /> <br />For the warm and comfort of the sirens voice, <br />Was below, beneath the tide, <br />'But here without you shall reside, <br />You no longer have a choice'; <br /> <br />The key keeper informed me at the gate, <br />Haunting, oh so haunting. <br />For in death as in life I face eternal wait, <br />Wanting, oh so wanting.<br /><br />C.W.
