I looked up from my paper <br />For I'm sure I felt her stare, <br />Our eyes met and they locked and <br />Something mystic filled the air. <br /> <br />I couldn't turn my gaze away, <br />But didn't feel the need. <br />I felt she didn't want me to. <br />Here eyes said she agreed. <br /> <br />Both rooted to that moment, <br />Once two strangers, now as one, <br />Two futures and two histories <br />At once rolled into one. <br /> <br />And in that railway carriage <br />Something happened to my heart. <br />Something happened to my system. <br />My perspective fell apart. <br /> <br />I knew she, too, was going through <br />The very same routine. <br />I read her eyes and she read mine. <br />We both read in between. <br /> <br />Then that new world I'd entered in <br />Was blown to bits because <br />Her train pulled out the station <br />And mine stayed where it was. <br /> <br />Now, til I die I'll wonder why <br />Such depth of feeling grew <br />To no avail and left no trail. <br />I love her.
