A wondrous shooting star, I seen, <br />On a cold dark winter night, <br />The year was nineteen ninety nine, <br />It’s memory shines so bright. <br /> <br />They say it speaks of change to come, <br />For those who catch this sight, <br />I watched in awe, the splendour, <br />As it trailed it’s tail of light. <br /> <br />I wondered if my life would change, <br />For better or for worse, <br />Would I receive some blessings, <br />Or would I find a curse. <br /> <br />Or maybe life would carry on, <br />Routinely, just the same, <br />A day to day existence, <br />Content to play the game. <br /> <br />The changes came as prophesised, <br />The wondrous gift was mine, <br />For love came with the comet, <br />In nineteen ninety nine.<br /><br />Linda Harnett<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/nineteen-ninety-nine/
