Drinking tea in the sun, the afternoon sun <br />In a woven hammock <br />On a rickety old porch <br />Where the bittersweet butterflies flap their colorful wings <br />And their colours paint a rainbow <br />Drinking tea in the sun <br />Drinking tea on a pirate ship <br />Drinking tea while the pirates play poker and <br />Fill themselves with rum <br />And salty air <br />Drinking tea by a swing set <br />And an open pack of cigarettes <br />Drinking tea while poor children starve in <br />Peru <br />Tea makes me smart <br />The knowledge soaks in <br />The more I drink <br />The trees change colors <br />And grow bigger <br />I think about different things <br />About love, colour, boyfriends <br />Drowning in their low self esteem <br />While I look at bonfires on the beach <br />And sketch telephone poles <br />Packed with pidgeons <br />Pidgeons down in the market square <br />Im standing in my underwear <br />Sitting on a bench <br />Playing guitar <br />Window shopping. <br />I pass an alley <br />There’s a trash can and a child <br />Wrapped in newspaper <br />She looks at me <br />Her big eyes, the color of what shes wearing <br />I can read her <br />i think of you. <br />I wonder where you are. <br />I give her my tea. <br />she smiles.<br /><br />Brooke Hippie<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/drinking-tea-in-the-sun/
