Protests clash with police in Brazil hours before World Cup kicks off

Police in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo have used tear gas to break up a protest just hours before the city hosts the opening World Cup match.<br /><br />At least five people have been reported injured including a journalist from US television network CNN.<br /><br />Protesters had tried to block a road linking the Corinthians Arena. The demonstration took place around 13km from the stadium where Brazil will play Croatia at 20.00 CEST.<br /><br />Riot police attempted the disperse the estimated 50 protesters with tear gas and rubber bullets. <br /><br />Protests have been taking place across Brazil in recent months over the cost of the hosting the tournament.
