The world famous Apollo Theater marks its 80th anniversary.<br/> <br />The theater turned its annual Spring Gala into an occasion to recognize the venue's storied history.<br/> <br />Party guests and performers included Gladys Knight, Natalie Cole and Joss Stone - in addition to an impromptu freestyle rap session with host Wayne Brady and hip-hop legend Doug E. Fresh.<br/> <br />The Apollo Theater opened in 1934 and has landmark status from the city of New York.
