Little feet running ….off to school to catch the bus <br />It’s, ” Show and Tell” and each has their story <br />Little children… with their treasures <br />All… making such a fuss. <br /> <br />Then one by one the children are called <br />To talk about what they’ve brought to show. <br />Stumbling over the right words they’ve rehearsed <br />All forgotten…where did all words now go? <br /> <br />Frightened beyond measure <br />As they hold their treasures in their hands <br />A book, a train, a buckle, a doll <br />That one gotten from, ” Aunt Nan.” <br /> <br />Then up was called, little “Jimmy” <br />He had an old tattered Bible pressed to his side. <br />As he started to open it <br />He had a look… as if he was going to cry. <br /> <br />“This was my “Grandpa Tom’s” Bible <br />He left it for me when he died. <br />He wrote all kinds of things in the front of it” <br />Then Jimmy shared Grandpas’ words… with pride. <br /> <br />“I fought in the Civil war back in 1861 <br />Lost a lot of dear friends back then <br />Lost almost everyone.” <br /> <br />“My son’s birth was in 1902 <br />But he died just…shortly after. <br />So many tears replaced our joy back then <br />Took our hearts warmth and all its laughter.” <br /> <br />“But God was always with us <br />No matter what the circumstance. <br />He filled our hearts one day again <br />Filling it with laughter, joy and dance.” <br /> <br />“I now am a Great, Great Grandpa <br />And remember my days of schools’, Show and Tell” <br />Now I wish this story of my life be told one day <br />In hopes that all will understand it well.” <br /> <br />“Never forget God loves you <br />He is standing always… there right by your side. <br />He lives within the heart of man <br />And in my, ”show and tell” now resides.” <br />(Gal.6) <br />By: Linda Winchell <br />Copyright: 2009<br /><br />Linda Winchell<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/show-and-tell/
