Have you ever felt that for one step forward <br />You found yourself taking two steps backward? <br />Have you ever tried to swim the undulating ocean <br />But grew in weariness and lack of motion? <br /> <br />Have you ever hiked to the mountain height <br />And found yourself repelling down in chilling fright? <br />Have you ever attempted to climb a high hill <br />And on your way up you took a hard spill? <br /> <br />Have you ever walked unencumbered in the Spring sun <br />With gentle breezes to refresh you when you were done? <br />Have you ever sailed the waves of the ocean blue <br />And seen the far horizons as shorelines came into view? <br /> <br />Have you ever ascended a mountainous terrain <br />And felt the freedom from all ailments and pain? <br />Have you ever climbed a lovely Fall meadow's hill <br />To be blessed with more joy than your heart could fill? <br /> <br />Have you ever heard the whisper of the Holy Spirit <br />And inhaled the Peace of the Lord? ..and endeared it? <br />Have you ever wondered when Christ will come again <br />And when He will come to take, with Him, all men? <br /> <br />Not to worry, not to fret; <br />He hasn't come as yet. <br />Keep your lanterns lit with enough oil for the wait <br />And Jesus will take you to Heaven's open gate. <br />One day at a time unknown <br />His Glorious Coming will be shown <br />And upwards we will be flown.<br /><br />Mel (Carmela) Patterson<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/have-you-ever-131/
