Been thinking a lot about Jesus today- <br />why he came, why he went away, <br />what he meant by what he had to say, <br />and how come nobody heard. <br /> <br />I'd always thought he came to set men free <br />from fatuous preachers of inanity, <br />but it's all devolved into sophistry <br />over the finer points of the Word. <br /> <br />Each self aggrandizer claiming dominion <br />for his version of truth, like he's Jesus' main minion, <br />and grinding his axe on all other opinion, <br />while generous to a fault with his own. <br /> <br />Pontificating on such subjects as: the nature of sin, <br />of treasure laid up in gold, silver, and tin, <br />or the number of angels on the head of a pin- <br />'Just a sec! I've got God on the phone! ' <br /> <br />Well, since everyone else has put in his two cents, <br />I hope you don't mind if I vie with these gents, <br />and perhaps interject with some slight common sense <br />concerning issues which couldn't be muddier. <br /> <br />And don't be alarmed if you hear something new, <br />or a thought that doesn't conform to your view, <br />for the cages are getting quite cramped in this zoo- <br />and the catfights can only get bloodier! <br /> <br />So, here are the facts (as I see them) today: <br />a man was born, lived some, then went on his way. <br />Now Santa Clause comes on his alleged birthday, <br />and fills up our stockings with stuff. <br /> <br />As for all the rest of the story, it seems <br />we'll get it from some bouffant coiffured guy's dreams, <br />along with the true measure of Jesus' inseams... <br />if we're willing to pay him enough.<br /><br />metamorphhh (aka jim crawford)<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/staring-into-the-son/
